Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has just been released. The starting price in Singapore is a whopping S$1399 for the lowest-end model : Intel Core m3 with 128GB storage and 4GB of RAM. Following is the price list from the ongoing SITEX 2015 PC Show.
On the other hand, if you were to look at Amazon prices, you will realize that, after conversion to SGD, the prices are about S$100 cheaper.
|SG Retail Price||Amazon Price|
|Core m3, 128GB Storage, 4GB RAM||S$1399||S$1304|
|Core i5, 128GB Storage, 4GB RAM||S$1599||S$1443|
|Core i5, 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM||S$1999||S$1882|
From the above table, you will be able to save the most (up to S$156) with the Core i5, 128GB model. This is incidentally also the most popular model, combining both price and performance.
I have, in an earlier article, talked about how you can enjoy free shipping of Amazon products to Singapore. Unfortunately, they do not ship the Surface Pro 4 to Singapore. In this article, I am going to tell you how you can ship the Surface Pro 4 to Singapore and save some money. For Amazon products that do not ship to Singapore, you can employ the Singapore Post Vpost service. Open an account and get your overseas USA address.
Once that is done. Go to your Amazon account and change your default shipping address to your customized USA address. The surface Pro 4 comes with free shipping to a US address so you pay only for the product itself. Vpost charges for shipment of course but the cost of shipment will be substantially less than the S$100+ you are saving for buying from Amazon.
Of course, as always with each new iteration of the Surface family of products, the previous version will be substantially discounted. You may want to see how inexpensive it is now to get your Surface Pro 3.
Happy Shopping and Good luck!
